Eugene man killed when motorcycle collides with dump truck

Author : Qijing Date : 2015-7-23 8:59:32
A 43-year-old Eugene man was killed Tuesday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a dump truck near Dillard Road, according to Oregon State Police.

Kevin K. Peschel was riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle at 12:30 p.m., when a 1979 Mack dump truck, towing a dump trailer, turned onto Dillard Road and into the path of the motorcycle, authorities said. Peschel collided with the right front corner of the truck and was seriously injured. He was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield, where he died from his injuries.

No citations have been issued. The truck, registered to McKenzie Trucking and loaded with crushed rock, was driven by Adam J. Metteer, 29, of Springfield. Metteer was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

According to a Facebook page that appears to belong to Peschel, the Eugene man worked for Sprout City Studios and previously at Sam Bond’s Garage as a sound engineer. One of his most recent status updates said he was working with the equipment for tonight’s Motley Crue concert.

The band Sassparilla, with more than 2,000 page “likes” on Facebook, posted that Peschel was a “dear friend of the band’s and one of our favorite sound men out there.”
